Have a Question?
What is Gakwiyo Garden?
Gakwiyo Garden is an enterprise of the Cayuga Nation that focuses on produce production and distribution. The garden is comprised of multiple greenhouse and high-tunnel greenhouse structures along with a variety of field cultivated crops. Gakwiyo Garden delivers weekly seasonal produce to Cayuga Nation members throughout Upstate NY.
What do you grow?
We grow a large variety of vegetables and fruits, including tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, onions, leeks, garlic, herbs, sweet corn, peas, beans, asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, beets, radishes, rutabaga, turnips, carrots, greens, and much more. We also grow a variety of floral plants for hanging baskets, potted flowers, and landscaping.
Where do you sell your products?
We sell hanging baskets, potted flower arrangements, and flower plants at an annual mother's day flower sale. Keep your eyes peeled for signs indicating when and where the sale will be this year! Unfortunately for the public, the majority of our produce is intended for deliveries to Cayuga Nation citizens, but you may come across some of our overflow at one of our two Trading locations on occasion.
How many acres do you farm?
Gakwiyo Garden actively farms roughly twenty acres per year, but annually rotates crops between over one hundred acres of farmland.
Are the gardens open to the public?
No.
Do you offer sales and discounts?
We offer a huge Mother’s Day sale on flowers along with a holiday sale on wreaths. These are available for purchase at our LakeSide Trading stores.
