Council News - June 2010

To all Nation Citizens:

We extend best wishes to all of you and hope you and your families are well. Get out and enjoy the warm weather.
We have Great News.
The Cayuga Nation won our cigarette case in the New York State’s Highest court, the Court of
Appeals. We have a “qualified reservation” and Clint Halftown and B.J. Radford are not going
to jail. An article enclosed by Nation Attorney Lee Alcott will explain the case further.
In other great news, Cayuga Nation Housing will do a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on June 26, 2010
to open four (4) new homes available for Nation Citizens to rent. These homes are all located on Spruce Lane. The Nation has 10 plus homes for rent. If you are interested in renting a home from Nation Housing, please call Justin Bennett at 716-337-4270.
On June 23, 2010, we will begin produce delivery from Gakwiyo Garden so you should have received
a phone call to see if you want to get your box of veggies this year.
This summer the Lake View Black Angus Beef Farm will move to its new location, on Cayuga
Nation territory. This is to happen within 90 days. The Lake View Beef Farm is managed by Sam Campbell, Turtle Clan.
Cayuga Sugar Shack and Cayuga Corner are open for business. So if you want to get an ice cream cone and a nice flower arrangement, stop in at our two locations. Come in and say hi.
If any of you travel the New York State Thruway East bound lane and you happen to see 7 tow trucks, beep and wave to Pullens. Again this year Pullens has received the contract of keeping the NY Thruway clear from auto break downs and truck wrecks.
Don’t forget the Cayuga Sugar Shack will be hosting the 2nd Annual Miniature Golf Tournament on July 17, 2010 at 10am to benefit the House of Concern. Last year we raised $4,500.00. Please come and enjoy a day of fun and support a great cause.
